Skillz has challenged Papaya Gaming’s Chapter 15 petition in Delaware bankruptcy court, arguing the Israeli mobile game developer lacks standing because its operations and primary creditor base are anchored almost exclusively in the United States.

In April, a federal jury sided with Skillz (now operating as Firy Inc.) on its claims that Papaya deceived consumers by utilizing computer bots in its head-to-head mobile games.

Three months later, Judge Denise Cote ordered Papaya to pay Skillz $719 million in damages for poaching players from its skill gaming platform on the belief that Papaya had more players and therefore facilitated considerably faster peer-to-peer pairing times.

“We have made progress, such as increasing the direct tax to 15% and including the activity in the Selective Tax. Those benefiting from social programmes and those who joined the Desenrola programme were also prohibited from betting.”

He also pointed to the self-exclusion mechanism adopted by the government.

“The debate about prohibition will remain open in the country for the next few years,” he said. “It will be an institutional debate between the Supreme Court, Congress and the executive branch.

Cubeia’s first phase was an open approach to AI. Developers could use it whenever they wanted. “During the hybrid period in Q1, Cubeia solved 259 issues. Once it moved to the AI-driven process, that figure rose to 421 – a 62% increase. Larger projects increased from 17 to 58. So the answer is yes: moving to AI-driven development has increased our output tremendously,” Grenstad says.

But the more important question now is what Cubeia does with that capacity. “Because we’re not spending as much time coding, we’re spending more time on the business: talking about value and understanding the domain,” he says.
